Brixton Re:Created @ London Festival of Architecture

Sun, 11th Jun 2023

Award winning charity Brixton Chamber Orchestra set a performance in and around the outdoor concourse of Brixton's iconic Recreation Centre.

Event starts at 5pm. Performance begins at 5:30pm sharp.

The group will bring this well-known but unloved space to life with a concert on the concourse, branching into the various surrounding walkways and platforms to create a unique soundscape. Orchestral sounds will collide with the spatial reality of the Rec, resonating its spaces and, in a sense, playing the building itself.

Inspired by the architectural and cultural significance of the Rec, Brixton Re:Created celebrates its founding ideals as a place for different people to meet and mix, guided by a determination to create meaningful improvements and to breathe new life into the space. Brixton Chamber Orchestra will transform the space with a free live orchestral concert from 5pm.

Brixton Re:Created is free of charge to the public.

Supported by Lambeth Council, Active Lambeth, Brixton BID, Squire & Partners and Coldharbour Industries.
