7:15 PM – BCO Set
8:30 PM – Live Orchestral Amapiano Set with DJ Nickie Cartel
We’re heading to Stratford to headline Newham: Next in Line Festival – celebrating African musical influences in all their variety. Expect a genre-blending performance at Westfield Stratford City featuring some serious South London talent.
Ever heard Amapiano performed with a full orchestra? Now’s your chance. We’re teaming up with DJ Nickie Cartel for a one-of-a-kind orchestral Amapiano set, specially arranged by BCO’s own Ola Akindipe.
We’ll also be joined by:
-
LDEEA – vocalist and artist from Brixton's Raw Material creative arts centre
-
Krxze and members of the 888 Collective
What to expect:
-
A movement from Fela Sowande's African Suite for Strings
-
Old-school & contemporary Afrobeats
-
An Afro-Brazilian composition by our friend Luciano Calazans
-
Drill & Grime – including Danny Weed’s “Salt Beef” inspired by Ethiopian folk music
-
Krxze’s original track “Cost of Living”
-
And a few crowd-pleasers including Stevie Wonder’s “I Wish” (because why not?)
