 7:15 PM – BCO Set

8:30 PM –  Live Orchestral Amapiano Set with DJ Nickie Cartel

We’re heading to Stratford to headline Newham: Next in Line Festival – celebrating African musical influences in all their variety. Expect a genre-blending performance at Westfield Stratford City featuring some serious South London talent.

Ever heard Amapiano performed with a full orchestra? Now’s your chance. We’re teaming up with DJ Nickie Cartel for a one-of-a-kind orchestral Amapiano set, specially arranged by BCO’s own Ola Akindipe.

We’ll also be joined by:

  • LDEEA – vocalist and artist from Brixton's Raw Material creative arts centre

  • Krxze and members of the 888 Collective

What to expect:

  • A movement from Fela Sowande's African Suite for Strings

  • Old-school & contemporary Afrobeats

  • An Afro-Brazilian composition by our friend Luciano Calazans

  • Drill & Grime – including Danny Weed’s “Salt Beef” inspired by Ethiopian folk music

  • Krxze’s original track “Cost of Living”

  • And a few crowd-pleasers including Stevie Wonder’s “I Wish” (because why not?)
